The Rugby Committee held a meeting on Thursday 1 May 2014 when the following matters were discussed:

The Chairs reported on the end of season for their respective sections. The 1st XV and Ladies teams had avoided relegation; Girls’ rugby had a successful time with both U15s and U18s Berkshire Barbarians finishing top of their leagues.

The Minis and Juniors are in the midst of tours and festivals. Our Mini Festival had been a great success with many compliments from visiting clubs and our teams did well across the age groups.
England U20 player, Jak Rossiter, had presented the trophies and medals.

The Junior Festival was coming up the following weekend. The Committee thanked the organising committee for doing such a great job.

The new Club kit was launched at the Festivals and will be promoted at other events. Opportunities remain across the teams for shirt sponsors - call us on 01635 230023.

We have some tickets for our Members to be able to attend the Vodafone Party, being held at the Club on Saturday 7 June, from 1.00pm to 9.00pm. With tribute bands and support acts. Tickets are just £10 for Adults and £5 for children. For further details or to book, call Aaron on 01635 230023.

Also coming up in the summer, plans are underway for a ‘Family Festival Day’ on Saturday 16 August to promote the Club and including Mixed Touch festival; pre-season preparation match; music; and food etc. This will precede the ‘Newbury Youth Fest’ at Victoria Park Sunday 17th, where the Club will also have a stall.

Maintenance work on all the pitches will be starting soon; and the earthworks are on track to get the North bank and top pitch No.6 ready for seeding. Improvements and refurbishments inside the building are also steadily underway.

Your Committee is also working hard to plan ahead for next season and will be announcing the new Membership packages for 2014/15 in time for the AGM.

In efforts to improve communications with Members and Supporters, the Club will be moving to a new emailing system, MailChimp, to send out News and notify events etc. It is hoped that as many people as possible will embrace this new way of being in contact.

To this end, MailChimp will be used alongside Pitchero to serve Notice to our voting Members of the AGM which will be held on Thursday 26 June 2014. (rearranged from Wednesday 18 June).

The next Committee meeting is scheduled for 5 June 2014;

Christine Morrell
Hon Secretary

On behalf of Newbury Rugby Football Club Committee
